Colloquium Cuba después del 59

PDF

When: November 1st, 2019

Where: Room 5414, The Graduate Center. 365 Fifth Avenue, NY 10016

Time: 10:00 am – 9:00 pm.

The Colombian Studies Group presents this Colloquium on the occasion of the 60th year of the Cuban Revolution and the 500th anniversary of San Cristóbal de la Habana to reflect on what was and what the nation became after 1959. The former marked the beginning of both projects for the social good and massive migrations; both the Revolution and the Cuban exile has had a worldwide impact, especially in Latin American and the Latino community in the US. The goal of this colloquium is to provide a broad look at the diversity of Cuban experiences over the course of the last 60 years, putting into dialogue different emphases in Cuban studies. San Cristóbal de la Habana’s 500 years of history also merit special attention. The presentations included will discuss various dimensions of life in the Cuban capital. We are interested in giving voice to a new generation of researchers and academics who study the Island, its interests and perspectives.
