Esse estudo tem o objetivo de refletir sobre a Linguística Aplicada, Política Linguística e Educacional. Trata sobre a diversidade linguística e cultural em situações de contato de línguas, ou seja, quando há o uso da linguagem de forma interlinguística entre dois ou mais códigos linguísticos, em comunidades de fala de imigrantes e de fronteira geográfica. Descreve, então, os estudos da diversidade linguística e da cultura, evidenciando entendimentos a partir de situações socioculturais, geográficas e históricas sobre o bilinguismo. Além de indicar caminhos para poder utilizar Políticas Linguísticas e Educacionais em contextos linguísticos diversos, discute-se fatores de bilinguismo, de diglossia e de alternância linguística. A partir dessa discussão, entende-se ser possível encontrar espaço para uma rediscussão sobre a diversidade linguística, quando o falante utiliza não só os fenômenos de alternância linguística, como também os neologismos por empréstimos, especialmente no mundo contemporâneo de globalização das redes sociais on-line e das interações virtuais.

This study aims to reflect on Applied Linguistics and Linguistic and Educational Policies. It implies about concerning linguistic and cultural diversity in situations of languages in/of contact, that is, when there is the use of two or more linguistic codes, in speech communities of immigrants and border dwellers. This work describes, therefore, studies of linguistic and cultural diversity, revealing insights from socio-cultural, geographical and historical situations related to bilingualism. Besides indicating paths in order to use Linguistic and Educational Policies in different linguistic contexts, it discusses factors of bilingualism, diglossia and language alternation. From this discussion, it is understood to be possible to find room for a renewed discussion about linguistic diversity, when a speaker makes use of the phenomenon of language alternation, as well as neologisms from loans, especially in today’s world of globalization, online social networks and virtual interactions.
