The concept of Antropofagia has been examined and re-examined by various literary critics and academics alike, and the “new” interpretation mandates understanding its evolution within the complex Brazilian intellectual milieu of 1920s. On one hand, the dual attributes of Antropofagia: a concept and/or a movement tend to complicate our analysis, while on the other our interpretations and understanding of Antropofagia as a literary occurrence can be furthered if we analyze it as an effort by effort to re-evaluate and re-constitute the role of intellectualism and replace it with the objective observations of the self within the Brazilian context.
